The only thing I hate to have to fix is the AC and the heater controls...

Allow me to give you some tips about A/C since i have some experiance with it. Don't start replacing parts until your A/C is fixed, you will spend way to more money than you have to. A/C are a PITA and kinda tricky. Most important thing to find out is if the compressor is actually turning, that means that the clutch is actually engaging the compressor. If you need any help, you could ask me. I have a pretty good understanding of A/C systems, part of which i learned during the week it took me to diagnose my A/C problem (that was one long week).
