While it is true that lightening your car will help, the price of a CF hood does not equate to any real gains. A CF hood saves like 10-20 lbs, thats gonna give you .02s on you 1/4 mile. Is that worth the $300-$400 it costs?

Unless you have crazy mods and nothing more to do then it would end up being a better idea.

CF hoods for weight reduction is pointless. I have a vented one to hopfully keep my turbo a but cooler and allow cooler air into the engine bay. Most CF hoods have a fiberglass skeleton underneath that goes against the whole weight reduction idea.
If you do decide to paint it just think... you paid 300-400$ for the hood just to spend another 100$ painting over somthing that did absolutly nothing for your car. You would save more weight taking out your spare tire.

My friend has a RED cf hood on his RED EG Hatch and it looks amazing. It really matches his color well. If he a different red I dont think it would look as good but the color very closely matches his body color Ill see if I can find a pic.
