isnt HP speed and torque is power? like diesel trucks have crappy acceleration (unless they have a turbo) but they have all the power you need cuz they have soo much torque

my old turbo mazda was 167hp and 192lbs of tourqe. Man i miss that car lol

yes its possible. heres a dyno sheet that a guy on a local forum just recently posted. outa some v6 truck i do believe.

It's pretty simple really.

(Torque x RPM) / 5252 = Horsepower

Most large displacement engines will create a lot of torque at the low end of the power range due to just that, their displacement. However, they cannot carry it far into the RPM range because their engines just don't move enough air.

This is why you're average honda makes so much more horsepower than torque. Small displacement engines do not make torque, but because we rev so high and carry our torque so far into the RPM range we can put up great horsepower numbers.

Also, the reason that high horespower is so formidable is because it means that you've carried torque far into the RPM range, which also means that you have a lot of power under the curve or a great powercurve on the top end (which is where you accelerate).

Torque is the workhorse of the engine, horsepower is the result of how efficient that engine is at working deep into the RPM range.
