there r some nice cameras out there, I would say it is all ur preference...The cybershot isn't bad, The only camera I would say don't get is the Digital Cannon Rebel...My professor has broken that camera down to the bone and it has so many problems it's not worth the money.

7.2 mp will get you some quality shots, but of course the higher the better.

Well, that's what I can call "rice"
Pics quality come from good optics, not from mega-mega-mega pixels[sm=badidea.gif]

what are you going to be using the camera for? Because on tigerdirect.com they have a fuji finepix s9000 for 499 or 599, i forgot, after a 200 dollar rebate ( i believe). But the special ends on oct. 31. Its a good camera IMO. I was going to buy but dont have any money as of now and im good with the one i have.

heres the link.

For everyday shots and family photos.Which most pictures get fixed on the computer anyway.I say a cheap Kodak Easy Share c310 we paid 100 bucks and I do everything with it.Its has 4mp small but it does a nice job.

all the ones i took were with a Canon Powershot SD400. takes great shots for what it is, a simple P&S. comes with software, battery, memory card, manual, and charger. easy to use and as u can see takes pretty good pics after u figure out how it works and all the modes. most of the pics i took which u can see in the link above had very little to no editing. the editing i did do i just enhanced the colors a bit...camera with everything cost like $200 or so i believe. now if u want something that takes AMAZING pics and have alot of money to blow, get the Canon 1D Mark II, if u have $6k to blow that is...

edit: just remembered the pic in my sig was taken with a 1D. its better quality than it looks in the sig because i had to resize it and all..

What's your budget and goal? If you want something you can take anywhere in your pocket and that will take decent shots, that's onething. But if you want to go all out and really get into photography, be prepared to shell out some dough. In my opinion it's well worth it if you really love photography and want some quality shots.
