RE: Buying a rifle - dilemma
I used to stand gate with them. Training was always fun when they gave you a whole bunch of rounds and said "get rid of them" lol. Shouldergot a little sore after shooting 60 rounds within 5 minutes, lol.

RE: Buying a rifle - dilemma
IIRC i was talking to a former forum member (AK47) and he has an AK(obviously) and he was saying that if it is bolt action then it is ok, but if it is full auto then it is illegal.
IMO though i see no reason to buy something of that caliber, if you are looking for a toy, then a pistol would suffice, if it is for hunting then just get a normal rifle.

RE: Buying a rifle - dilemma
If an AK is put together outside the states then it is illegal. If it it is shipped here in parts and then put together it is legal. That simple. And yes I too am an american and I have a 9mm on my hip at all times. LOL

Fallfast:
I'd love an m16 or ar15 type of rifle, but it's way too expensive for me. As amatter of fact, if I was to spend over $1k on a rifle - I would look for something, like a Steyr aug. CX4storm is the most expensive gun I'm willing to buy at this point. Then again, it's hard to find one for $500
Lost:
I'm not exactly american, but what were you trying to say with your blanket statement?
Flip:
yes AKs are legal here. However, they can't have a full auto mode (only single and burst modes).
Hunting sounds interesting, but I don't like killing things. I like the process, but don't like the end result.
Fiirkan:
I would buy a pistol, but I'm not 21 yet.
