bummer - taking it to the shop
Well, I was hoping to attempt to replace the cylinder head gasket on my car, but it seems to be too much for me to accomplish. I've been reading a lot here on threads where people change their timing belt and swap cylinder heads.
I'm taking it to a Honda dealership service department. I hate it but at least they do a good job.
Good bye money.

You should at least call around to different shops and possible different honda dealerships and try to get a better price. Its not like hondas are a rare car company, every shop should know how to change out your parts.

Pretty much all the dealerships charge the same price for labor. I don't know of any good non-dealership repair shops. I've taken a car to one place that was a non-VW repair shop for a VW I had, they totally ripped me off.
The car isn't under warranty. This place I go to has done work previously. Even they cost more, they do it right.

I got it done and it's running good. It's quieter and this grinding sound the engine had is not there anymore.
They replaced the head bolts when they replaced the head gasket, I don't know if that's standard but each bolt and washer cost $16+ each. I took a look at all the parts that were replaced. For whatever reason, they left a box of all that was replaced on the passenger floor mat. The timing belt didn't have any cracks even though it was last replaced 80,000 miles ago.

The reason why some shops leave part boxes in your car is that they don't want you to even think that they didn't do some of the work...plus they don't have as much trash around the shop...
