Why do people not like him? I havent ever watched formula racing, I never know when it is on!
Because he has cheated in the past, As mybrokenblinker mentioned he pretended to crash his car and block Alonos lap at Monaco.
He has also run two other drivers of the track so he can win the championship. He cant stand losing so will do anything to win. I would probably do the same too.

Exactly, if you're going to be a race car driver, you need to do whatever it takes to win. Even if the act in question is borderline rule breaking.

No doubt he was an amazing driver (just look at the fact that after midseason he practically won every race) but you have no choice to laugh at that one qualifying (i forget what track) where he parked it in the corner to block alonso. Haha
times 2. he is a very fast driver, but im not one of his fans. why? like you said monaco this year, "parking" the car on the last corner so alonso would not be on pole. or how about adelaide 94' when he crashed Hill and won the WC. remember jerez 97'? hes very famous for that!!! but sadly for him he didnt pull that on off. if you have a team that WORKS FOR YOU and builds a car for you, to suit your driving style then of course you are going to win... since 1996 ferrari had eyes only for michael thats it. if senna had not died michael would not have that many WC today.

And i think f1 was not the same after 2001 when hakkinen retired... the only man michael truly feared.
