Another Sleepless night...

RE: Another Sleepless night...
I started to try the lucid dreaming, but one of the first steps is to train yourself to wake after each dream so you can remember the details, and when I would do that, I wouldnt sleep well, so I had to untrain myself. I used to have really bad insomnia, but the last couple of years, its been gone. til now. the last couple of nights I havent been able to sleep, I think Im just stressed and a little overworked, so no big deal right? so tonight I skipped watching House (one of my wifes and my favorite shows) and went to bed early. glass of warm milk, some liquid melatonin stuff that works fantastic normally, valerian root, and one knee in absolute agony. yeah, havent slept more than 15 minutes yet, and its 12:30am and Im on the computer so my wife can get to sleep, and I still have to get up no later than 6am for work. I even took my last Codeine from a long time ago about an hour and a half ago, and Im still writhing in pain. this sucks. Ive only slept maybe 8 hours in going on 4 days. kind of weird actually to come down to this thread while I cant sleep.

I kinda wish they could replace mine, then at least it would be better, but supposedly with physical training it will get better, and If I strengthen my thigh muscles enough, over time it *might* go away for good. Im kinda doubtful, but its never been this bad. at this point Ill do almost anything to get some damn sleep and a few hours away from the pain. it just flares up every now and then, but this is the worst by far. [:@] I gotta get some damn sleep soon, but even that codeine didnt touch it. even with 1000mg of Ibuprofen and about an hour later, 2 Aleve. Im going to freakin OD.[]

This valerian root stuff--how's it work? How do you feel after taking it?
I've got two verrrrrrrrrrrry long flights this summer (~14 hours) and would love to sleep most of them away. Problem is, I found out last summer that no matter how exhausted I think I am I can't sleep on airplanes. I need something to knock me out cold. I don't drink, by the way.

it works pretty well for my wife, but as you can probably see, I have a high tolerance for pills, so I cant say yay or nay for myself. its not so much to help you sleep, it just kind of mellows you out. Honestly, the only thing Ive found that works is this liquid stuff called Bio-Nite. its about 30 bucks for like a 2 oz bottle, but thats about a months supply at full dose every night, and even with a high tolerance to everything, half a dose is usually plenty to get me to sleep really well. it kicks in fast too. I took a full dose one night about an hour before I was ready to go to bed so I would be nice and tired, but I only made it about 20 minutes before I was almost passed out. and it was nice because it was just like I was natually tired, not doped up like with Nyquil or sleeping pills.
