Ok sleep happens when your retnas has no more dilation to light. when this happens your body produces a natural chemical element called Melatonin. it is the natural sleep aid. Some ppl's bodies do not produce enough to make them sleepy. you can buy this at your local pharmacy for about 5 bucks. you hafta take i think like 100mg of it every night b4 you go to bed. but i does work. at first. After a while my body produced sort of like an antibody. i no longer respond to it. I have tried prescription sleep aids, i have tried lucid dreaming i have tried to count every little dot on the ceiling b4.
but i have found the only thing that works for me is. to be in a DARK ROOM. i mean DARK. my room is in the basement. so thatas about as dark as i can get it. if you don't have a basement. buy a huge black cloth to hang over your window at night. they sell them everywhere. so they are light enought to be pinned up, but thick enought to keep light out. i also sleep with a fan on high. i even use it during the winter. i keep the fan on high and throw 6 blankets on myslef. i must be cold when i sleep. if it is room temp when i sleep then i will awake in a dead sweat. and have to take a shower again. also ppl are creatures of habit. deny if you will but you are. if you have rearranged your room recently this may be a cause for it. have you ever beeen on a vacation and you lay in a bed and it doesnt feel like you're head is facing the proper directionwhen you are tryin to go to sleep? this is what i am talking about. you must sleep the same way everynight. you will fall asleep quicker. music doesnt help for b/c of the alternating sounds i wake up and get pisssed off. so the fan provides a constant noise to drown out all other noises. I know i am weird but this is what works. for me. it will be different for everyone. oh an i also have to up for at least 15 hours b4 i am tired. it sucks but i have to.

94civicus is on point about the melatonin. I've been reading about it's effects in aiding sleep here lately. Haven't tried it personally so I couldn't actually recommend it. But it is scientifically proven to aid in sleep. Trytophan also has a documented sleep inducing effect . 5HTP (5 hydroxytrytophan) is available at just about any pharmacy. I would suggest using only pharmaceutical grade products when looking for herbs and such. Some are not produced as pure as others and may not have the most positive effects.

i've used melatonin before, and it worked for a while. but it sucks for me because i develop tolerances to drugs really quickly, so i have to keep increasing the amount i take. i eventually gave up the melatonin. for the person who said they take a xanax and drink a beer....please be very careful doing that. xanax depresses your cns, which is also what alcohol does, and if the two are combined, you may not wake up. not trying to sound like a mom or anything, just wnt you to be careful.

That is not strange at all considering that they say average adult only needs 6-8 hours of sleep. I go off 4-6 hours a lot. I pull a lot of 18-24 hour days myself and today probably be about 32. Getting to sleep isn't a problem for me, it is usually having the time to sleep or having something to do when I get the chance. Tommarrow I will probably sleep 10-12.
