How do those work? The time it takes for your front tires, then your back tires to hit it?

 

I think they measure the time it takes for the tip of your front bumper to cross the distance between the two lines...and these can be up to 1/8 of a mile apart...and very hard to see...there's no sensors on the lines themselves...I think that it's some kind of an optical measurement...it's all over the place...every freaking minor intersection in every township has these now...and there's almost always a cop sitting in the side street...

 

dam that sucks, i think that radar detector would be a really good idea ..or just not speeding

In minesota it is illegal to "hang things from the windshield", not radar detectors themselves...

 

that could be it. but i swear someone told me they were. hell i dont know

 

I think the only places where detectors are really illegal are Virginia and DC
