2000 Civic Si
I was at a local Honda dealership today, because I was trying to figure out where my oil leak was coming from. I paid the guys $95.00 to tell me that I had loose oil pan nuts. When I got home I had oil going everywhere. I'm in the process of taking my tranny out so I can replace my rear main seal...pain in the butt. I've never driven a Civic w/ a B16A2 in it until today. I took a 2000 black Civic Si out for a spin. I don't see what the big deal is on the B16's. I have a turbo'd D15 and I have way more power. I don't see the hype w/ the B-series motor. I wasn't impressed at all by that 2000 Civic Si. Am I wrong? What do you guys think? By the way, my D15 halls ***.

Man I have said it all along the B16 is the most over hyped, over priced, joke I have ever seen. BTW I also have a JDM D15B and was also boosted at one time with it so I know all to well how they feel. What kinda power you putting down?

Yeah it sounds like you hated the car, but just imagine how it would feel when you do all the work you have on your other car to the si.
The b16a2 is a good motor, but it did get overhyped because it is an easy motor to work on, but you can not call it a bad engine.
Also yeah how many si do you see on the road, and wheen you do see one dont you take a second look at it.

I'm not hating on the 2000 Civic Si. I love how it looks and all. I'm just a HUGE fan of the d-series motor. I have a turbo'd D15 in mine and it halls a$$. I couldn't ask for anything better. The only thing is, I've heard so much hype on the 2000 Si, and to be frank, I wasn't impressed. It wasn't what it was made up to be. That's all i'm saying. Marty to answer your question, I have a Greddy TD04 turbo kit, pushing 8lbs of boost. I'm awaiting my intercooler piping. I think I'm pushing just over 200HP at the wheels.

RE: 2000 Civic Si
the reason why people like the b16a2 more than the d series is because they are easier to work on. if you bought a 2000 civic si and slap a turbo on it, it will beat out the d series turbo any day, well both motors stock. i have a b16a2 and i like it a lot more than the d series.

RE: 2000 Civic Si
I would sure hope to hell that you would be able to beat me w/ a turbo'd B16A2 if I'm running a turbo'd D-series motor. Kind of logical, isn't it? You guys end up spending anywhere from $4000-$7000, if not more, for a B-series swap + turbo. If I put that in my d-series motor, there would be no way any of you B-series guys could keep up w/ me. That's my whole point. I've done a job that's ran me $2000 and i'm pushing about 245 HP; you B-series guys would have dropped an additional $3000....atleast just to get a few extra HP. Is it really worth it? I guess the D-series vs. B-series debate continues. I hope i'm not coming across like a jerk. Dont' get me wrong...I can appreciate a Civic that's built, I just don't want to drop that kind of money into it. What do you guys think?
