tinting tail lights? what would you guys use?

tinting tail lights? what would you guys use?
i realy want to tint my tail lights so it makes the black on my civic flow so much beter.....
tho problem is these taillights aint cheap i see.............
so if i screw up im preaty screwed.... i dont want to buy any crapy euro tails.. i like the style of mine BUT i just want em alittle darker.....
thought about using some 35% tint or so and try to heat shrink the tint onto the tail lights that way i can still remove it OR if not use it as a base to paint if and i screw up the paint tint i could just peel it off...
any tips?

Bringing this one back. I'm just looking around forums and searching for clues...but, what do you all think about this look? I hate the alteeeeeeza's, can't really aford new tails right now. Was thinking about either tintining, or maybe cracking them open and painting the chrome black.....discuss

ive tinted my tails afew times.....
full tint and also half tint...

all my progress pictures thier...
a full tint looks sweet BUT driving in the day is VERY DANGEROUS!!!!!!! you cannot see the brake lights or turn signals thru the tint during the day! at night they shine thru the tint just fine BUT its not dark much lately.LMFAO
so BEST to just tint one section and cut into the taillights and glue in some proper color superflux leds...
i should type up a DIY since i get asked so freaken much. LMFAO

and is this illegal at all? cause i have a white honda and now that i see this i think i like the idea. do you guys think it would look good with white?
