I really want to do this cluster mod. Im fed up of driving around when its not quite dark and barely being able to see my gauges..
How hard is it to get them out of there?
If you could do a quick run through of how to get the gauges out and what to look out for that would be awesome!
Thanks in advance.

^ off the top of my head (I've taken the guages out like a bajillion times):
There's two screws holding the guage trim on (the plastic that has the three ac vents), and three pressure clips. The screws are above the guages. Take the screws out (you'll want a short #2 philips screwdriver) and pop the trim out of the dash. Disconnect the hazard light switch and the clock (assuming you have one). Now that that's out of the way, there should be four screws (one on each corner) of the guages. Take 'em out (again, #2 philips) and pull the guages out as far as you can. Now reach around and disconnect everything you see... it should be along the lines of five our six plugs going into the back of the guages. After you have the guages out, it's a matter of taking them apart (which you can probably figure out on your own). Just be careful you don't accidently snap off one of the needles, since they won't go back on.
I'm not sure on the climate control removal if you want to do that... addiction would have to explain it as I've never pulled it out.

yeah, that's where he gets all his lighting stuff... it's where I'm ordering the stuff for my led conversion when I get around to it
(and sorry for the threadjack, addiction... you're not online to answer the questions so someone has to lol)

na go right ahead
ya oznium for all my lights. i used cold cathodes for the climate controls and that DIY can be found in the DIY forum and the 96-00 clusters are the same once you have the cluster out... just the screws on the back side and clips and such. the only thing different with the puting the flexstrips is trimming two of them alittle shorter.
and the tach strip needs to be glued to the gauge as pictured. just follow the link to all the pictures of my cluster

ok well drove with it this morning to work.... and ya the AC vent shift light is gonna be removed!
my cluster shift light location is so much better! its a direct eye view when driving and i can simply cover it over with my hand while driving which is perfectly comfortable with my right hand when cruising the interstate. so in alittle bit im gonna just snip the wire for the ACvent bulb. not really worth keeping it so ill just snip the wires. the new dash location works great day and night!
