I've been looking through the DIYs for quite a while, and really want to do the brake light mod that allows for 4 total brake lights. I know on my 1999 LX, I only have two brake lights on the end (not counting the OEM spoiler). It seems like it would look clean, and increase visibility.

In the DIY, this mod is done on a 92-95 hatch. Looking at the pics, I can tell that my 1999 four-door has a different wiring set up. Has anyone ever attemped this on a 6th gen? What parts would I need and how would I wire this?

 

It seems like it would work in theory as long as the bulb sockets fit into the tail lights. You might have to a little more rewiring than with the hatch.

In its simplest terms, all you're doing is tapping into the wires from the outside lights, splitting duplicate sockets off of them, and relocating them to the inner tail lights (running wires in the process).

 

Cool thanks for the help. I did something very similar with my motorcycle when installing integrated turn signals.

Is there any set standard on which sockets I should buy from the store, or do I just have to guess and hope it fits?

Also, is there an easy way of knowing which wire on the socket goes to which wire on the brake light harness? Like will they be color coded?
