Default Paint On Dash Vents

I recently Purchased a 96 Hacthback Civic and there is purple and silver paint on the vents, door handles etc. I can't get the paint off is there an easy way to remove the paint? If not should i just replace the vents with some out of a junkyard?

Thanks

Try using a heavy cloth with rubbing alcohol. I would suggest paint thinner... but im not sure what that might exactly do to the plastic. If paint thinner works, use fiber glass thinner.... real tough stuff! I normally use marine fiber glass thinner... to get 10 yo paint off bricks in five minutes! lol

Maybe start with some goof off. I think that may be a little eisier on the palstic. If that doesnt work try what was stated above and hopefully the plastic will survive.

Ive used my stuff on plastic before...but not on the plastic in my car. Goof Off is a good suggestion, I prefer Goof Off2 though.

For the amount of time and work that it'll take you, you'd be better off buying new parts from a scrapyard.

Yeah i would have to agree with the above. when i bought my lude si (god rest its soul) i had been painted. i spend hours removing paint with paint thinner. its not that bad on plastic as long as you dont leave it on there for long periods of time....like soaking it. It makes the plastic look dull at first but alittle 2001 and it was as good as new. but there were parts in the corner that you could still see and when the vents moved a certain way you could see a slight tint to them. vents are cheap too at a junkyard. so i went and replaced them all for around 20$.

[sm=exactly.gif] I know what a hassle it is, and if I had to do it , I'd visit the scrapyard first thing. Forget about even tryin to remove the paint.
