mini-project: polished fuel rail
I picked up a fuel rail and oil pan for my z6 yesterday at Pick n' Pull.
Here's what I'm starting out with
Its raining like hell so I decided to do this. I think everything in my engine bay will be polished by the time i get my motor built

polished my z6 rail with a polishing wheel attached to a fixed grinder. it basically just comes out like a mirror but sucks because you have to keep up on polishing the rail every so often or it starts to dull real fast. might be able to dig up a pic of mine

I cant get the little rugulator off thats in the left of the first picture. I wet sanded it with 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 grit.
Here's after I sanded it
and here's after I put some mother's wheel polish on it
I'll prolly throw some clear on it later. How do I get that reglator off? It seems like a big fiting just screwed into the rail but I cant for the life of me break it loose. Am I missing something?
Nothing's wrong with the one on my car, I'm just polishing this one to go on the engine I'm building. I'll also do the intake mani, throttle body, and replace all the visible hardware with stainless

well to get that hose part off ITS REALY TIGHT!!!!!! i slaped mine in a VISE.... with a wrench on it and it was tight as hell!!!!!!! tho downfall with that is its aluminum and even if you wrap it in something it could get dented up very easily.... i would say put it on the car bolted down and then try to break it loose.
