I can't see this as being an "easy" mod. There's a lot more to think about and adjust then one thinks. PITA, comes to mind on this project.

Ok then. Well i always have been one for trying things lol. Well im thinking of using the gas springs from the boot of a people carrier. I lifted the door and the boot in the scrap yard before and the boot was alot heavier than the door. as for the hinges, ive got the idea. I found a site were some guy was braking a car and he noticed the doors had GM or Ford Rear door hinges. This will some gas springs was there way to get lambo doors apprently. If i find the link I will post it. And i may sound dum for what is PITA???

i think the way to go would be some hood springs instead of gas shocks. those gas shocks are expensive and when it goes it will be really hard to open your door, but a spring will almost never fail and it will also be a lot more compact

Yeah thts a kool idea. I will have a look at them asap. Thing is I work at a chromium plant and im almost certain tht we will have some heavy duty ones just "lying" around as spares for when things **** up. Ive got some plans now so will pass them onto me metal work guy. Shd be interesting to see his reaction.

its true that you get a lot of attention but you might regret getting em after a while cause you cant really get out of the car fast. and if you're gonna make the hinges then i can send you pics of them on my car so that you get a better idea. also the hinges need adjustment every couple of months or basically when the door doesnt align right..but thats easy to do and doesnt really take much time at all.
