HID Conversion

RE: HID Conversion
Superhids.com.... if you know how to install headlights then they are the best... if you want the brightest go 6k... I have 8k in my projectors which are way bright but very blue. Look to spend over 200 bucks... I would recommend putting them in projector headlights to control the light (so you wont get fined)... good proj's can be found anywhere on ebay, they are all the same.

RE: HID Conversion
I just bought authentic JDM headlights, and my next step is the HID conversion. I've heard if its to hot, it can melt your headlights. Thats the last thing I need since I just bought brand new ones. Any recommendation on kelvins?

RE: HID Conversion
If someone tells you they are too hot then they should be sterilyzed... HIDs run off only 35w instead of the stock bulbs running up to 100w... They use less power=less heat on the housing... the best (now in hindsight) are the 6 kelvin.. I have the 8k's and they are waaay bright but they are also waaay blue. Any day now I will be pulled over for them here in Oregon. 6k will have a white beam that is equivalent to the Audi line-up. But since you will be running them in stock housing they will look like high beams all the time and fill the housing with light which is waay hot. Yeah, heat is absolutely not an issue, I have projectors with the kit and even the headlight covers are still relatively cool to the touch

Actualy the "best" based on light output is 4300K, and then 5000K. The further up from there you lose actual output to color........... personly I'd do 5000K since it's the best compramise between color and output, but if you wanted a lil more blue than 6000K would be okay.
The main thing to remember is that while hid runs less watts it's initial start up amp draw can be higher than factory wire can support and to get a more reliable set up I'd recommend using a relay to power them. It will make the lights more reliable and also limit random outtages due to fuses.
If you get an hid kit, BUY THE ONE WITH THE SHIELD or buy the one that does bi-xenon that still has a shield, if you get the one with out the shield you'll be throwing light all over and this is where you get police attention by blinding them as they drive by. I'd sooner do a headlight swap to projector units and then run a pnp kit in them since the projector has a shield inside and will control the light better.....

RE: HID Conversion
I think you guys missed where he said that he already got new headlights. And as far as the "all projectors are the same" comment, absolutely wrong. If you're going to get a set of eBay projectors at least get the TYC ones. They're not quite as crappy as the other ones.
Anyways, yeah... cars that come with HIDs stock are either 4300K or 4900K. I wouldn't suggest anything higher than 6000K.

10 times more fun (around corners,) 10 times more looks, 10 times more random conversation, 10 times as many gizmoes and gadgets, 10 times less aftermarket support.
All in all, I LOVED my Civic but the MINI is just more what I'm looking for right now. I do miss the do-it-yourselfness of the Civic though.
