anyone know where i can get a hood that has a functional hood scoop built in? also, would these scoops allow water to enter? i'm guessing not, since sti's have them...

functional = not duct taped on; a hood that allows air to flow into the engine bay

oh.

why do you need to cool the top of your engine?

if it lets air in, how would it keep water out??

do you know why the STi has a hood scoop?

no, its more for looks, but i don't want some gay looking duct taped plastic thing on my hood

it's to get air to the top mounted intercooler. so it's actually functional for those cars. and it doesn't matter if water gets in there, because it's not the air intake for the engine.

well i know that my new hood (not on yet) has a functional hood scoop. it is carbon fiber though and i dont know if u would want that. its a vis invader hood.

im not sure how it would let air in and not let water in man, but yea Subies have it because they dont have a FMIC, they have it mounted like on top of their engine bay.

personanly i like the FMIC, it looks cool and tells people to watch their *** cuz you're spooling

also, i like the top mount, because if you hide it, then they never know that you are.... makes it look nice and stock.... sleeper goodness

so its okay to allow water on the engine components except the air intake?
