dome light not working? I'm a noob!
Well I just bought a 96 Civic Sedan the other day, and it had alot of "things" done to it. This includes a very tacky "Blue" interior dome light.
Anyway, the light works, but why doesnt it come on when I open the door? It also does not beep or anything when I leave the lights on with the keys not in the ignition with the door open. Is this normal?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! The dome light switch is in the "middle" position.
Could a fuse be blown? Which one, and where is the fuse panel?
Sorry guys, I'm a noob with civics.

ya where is the door dinger thing i want mine to work that way cause its anoying to have to pull the keys all the way out so it doesnt ding with the door open.....
but if it works with the passenger door then my guess would be your door pin switch is bad or could just be dirty.... look at where the pin switch is and pull back the interior trim panel to access the rear of the switch.. first make sure its conected. and if connected then with any kinda wire touch it to the pin switch wire and ground that wire.... if it dings then the switch is either broken or dirty and just not making conection.... alls it does is give it a ground.
i still wanna keep my alarms door triggers.... so just disconecting the wire from the switch isnt doable....

from what ive heard on older civics the stock radio has thedoor chime unit build into it.... so if somone just pulled the radio and didnt keep the factory radio inplace that would be the problem...
