DIY tint...good brand?
hey guys i'm planning on tinting my '90 civic hatch, but i figure i don't need to spend as much money as they're gonna charge me to tint.So i'm planning on doing my 1/4 glass myself since they come right off very easily.Anybody know of a good brand of tint.I'm thinking i'll be going private eyes but figured i'd see what everybody else was saying about this!

lol i've seen 2 sets so far,one in montague and one in charlottetown parked at shoppers...vx wheels would also do nicely, since they weigh in at what....9lbs? But like i said any nice oem style wheel would be good.oh and reason for cheaping out on the tint is me and the gf decided we wanted to do it together. she wants to help with the work on the car me and her doing the sanding down on the rust on the body as well before paint!

ya dont tint the car yourself. even tho the tints quality maybe good or the best BUT applying it is what makes it look so good!!!
bubbles, wrinkles, folds, not cut straight all makes the tint job look like crap! pay the pros to do it and if they have a few bubbles that you dont like MAKE THEM REDO IT
i did... my tint guy redid my sunroof, both side back windows and the back window because i didnt like it! he only did a good job on the front doors and the eyebrow. the rest had bubbles and the rear window he cut out around the 3rd brake light and i didnt like that!
so he redid the tint the way i wanted it, no extra charge....
just ASK them if the tint does bubble if they would fix it no extra charge. that way they know.... O CRAP better do a good job or they will be back and ill have to redo it all over again

I did my own tint, and I got it at Wal Mart. I have also seen it at Checker, Auto Zone, and Target. this is my second car I have done myself, and it does take some time to learn... I had to do my first Civic twice because of bubbles, and I creased the tint On my car now I had to pull the limo tint off the front windows becauseI got pulled over - the cop made me pull it off while he waited! anyways it is anly about 15 bucks every two windows to do it yourself, but if you mess up - you have to reclean the window, and buy more tint. Good luck. PS - My rims are off an HX, and I like the look, if only they came bigger than 14"!

did you notice the tint being a kind of purplish color?
and how was the back window to do? i think i'm going to attempt to just tint the car myself, just to say i at least tried and for the experience.i'd rather try to build my project myself first then just say yeah i'll take it the easy way and pay somebody.if i don't likeit i'm not out a lot of money and i can pull it off and get it done professionally. The only part i'm really concerned about is my hatch window.Anybody have any advice?
You can get bigger rims the same style as the hx ones, but they cost a bit since they're ITR rims. You can get those in 15,16 and i think password has them in 17"s too.
Oh and Tim,if I fail at this like i expect haha,up for an off island tint trip sometime in possibly may?
