Wait... so you getting only 120 miles from a full fill up (~11.5 gallons), or am I misinterpreting your post?

madjoker14 03-28-2009 10:57 AM

yup u got it right,i have an exhaust leak, when i put my hand right where the headers and the cat unit i can feel exhaust pulses, so im assuming that the 1st o2 is seeing extra o2 and spikes up the fuel ,but when im on the highway i can get about 350 miles but city its deff 120 or even 100 miles to a tank,

can this exhaust leak really cause it to get such low mpg? im going to try the paste n tape today after work n see if that would help

justinwebb 03-28-2009 10:59 AM

i doubt an exhaust leak would cause that there is something else wrong

this thread is full of lol

ya somethings not right for only 120ish city miles! either your driving it really really hard or something else is screwie! ive never got under 250miles a tank in my civic.

madjoker14 03-28-2009 11:26 AM

wow 250 miles, i have nevvver seen that,

what could cause such low gas milage?ill try the paste today but like u guys sayd,i daopt that would work, but show i make a new post for my low milage??
oh btw im on my lunch break so ima go n take my bumper off n take pics of the pipes :)

addiction2bass 03-28-2009 12:55 PM

are you sure you dont have any CEL codes?

i dont see a leaking exhaust causing that much of a loss of milage!

madjoker14 03-28-2009 01:43 PM

nope no check engine lights, could a tune up correct this issue?? i havent done a tune up since 80k miles and i have 101k??

Justin13 03-28-2009 01:51 PM

wow i get 300 miles to the tank and i got a 10 gallon tank

Damn. I thought my 210 miles to a gallon (city; 240ish highway) was bad. I am averaging about 20-23 MPG. However, I have a few extra mods in the motor. And I know I tuned the car to be a little rich as I do not have a A/F gauge + wideband yet. I would rather run rich than lean!

But anyways, yes, new spark plugs, wires, etc (tune up) will help out if they have been in there for 20k.
