Default Body Work/Paint

Does anyone do or know how to do bodywork/paint? I am trying to learn how to paint but i'm having trouble finding which spray gun i should buy. I want to buy a good spray gun but i don't want to spend too much money. I have a trunk that i want to practice on and im in the process of sanding it (by hand) and i want to paint the trunk before i move up to an actual car.

a paint gun will have a needle valve at the tip. a good gun will have a nice, sharp straight needle, that will seal completely when the trigger is let off. so a 25 dollar gun = crap. a gun around 150 = decent. a gun around 300 = pretty good. make sure you get the proper size tip for the type of paint you use.

I just talked to this guy at the paint supply store. I have a compressor that puts out 8.6 CFM at 40 PSI and he said that they don't have a gun that will be able to work and spray an automotive paint. Do you have any idea what i could do other than buy a new compressor?
