Default blacked out tail lights? yay or nay?

I'm thinking appearance mods during the winter time here in nebraska and find some stuff so that come spring time, i can bolt it all on to my 99 civic and make it look unique.

im asking you guys for suggestions, reccommendations, and any ideas that you may have or stories related similarly to what im interested in doing.

I have them, I like them. I know some people don't like them, and don't go too dark, could be dangerous because no one can see your lights lol.

Depending on the color of the car, I think that a red/black combo is better.

Winter time might not be best time for painting due to the cold. I used a window tint spray can from a hobby shop which should have been used to spray tint R/C car windows etc. Worked out nicely, but then I got sick of it and going back to OEM was a PITA. I tried using tint, but could never get it to look 100%. I ended up just buying a replacement set of OEM tails and sticking with them.

As others have said, I believe it is technically illegal to tint your head/tail lights. Just don't go too dark.

It depends on the state as to whether its legal/illegal. If you it, I think you should use a spray... and do it VERY lightly so you can barely tell they've even been tinted. Ive seen done this way and it looks great if done correctly. Instead of looking black, all the colors just look darker.

kinda putting a pause on the blacked out tail light idea. a friend came up with the idea of making it a sleeper so slowly gonna start doing performance upgrades.
