Default After market tach problems.

I just bought a $70.00 shift glow tach off of ebay and installed it correctly. First problem is i have the yellow wire connected to a constant 12v battery source and its suppose to change to 7 different colors but its stuck on red.

My biggest problem is that it wont go above 3,000 RPM's. Now my buddy says that there were recalls on the main RPM connectors on the vehicle itself, becuase that is where the main connection for the tach is.

So is that probably the reason because the company told me to try connecting the main source to a blue wire with no stripe at the distributor and another RPM source under the right wheel fender?
Any ideas?

The tach does start up, the shift light works and works up to 3000 RPM's. Idles around 1000RPM which is about correct just after 3k RPM's it losses power which is why I think its the connector on the car?

This is the link to my tach

Which would be what? it runs more than 3k RPM's so it has to be the **** RPM connector on the car right?

To ditch the ricey aftermarket tach

You should look into an OEM gauge cluster with the tach in it already

It might have a setting for 4, 6 and 8 cylinder motors and could be on the 8 cylinder setting? Just an idea.
