I've had my Magnaflow cat back for about 10-11 months and i've noticed that there seems to be some rust patches on the piping. Its stainless steel piping and mirror finish stainless steel muffler.im pretty sure stainless steel isnt supposed to rust, or atleast not very easily. I'm gussing this rust is do to the salt and junk on the roads. has anyone else had this problem? would Magnaflow take car of this considering there is a lifetime warranty?

ya they do rust, i dont no what the deal on the stanless steal not rusting is because iv heard that to, but they do rust...and unless you have a warrinty that spacificly says that its warrinted against rust i think your out of luck, you could give them a call and check tho just for the hell of it.. i no theres polish/wax you can buy to put on that will give it a protective coating, i no i put some on after i took my exhust off for the winter and put it for storage ( i put my stock on,dont want to wreck the aftermarkit with the salt and snow)

 

i have the magnaflow to and i have rust on mine to, just on the piping though.

 

ive only had my evo2 for about a month, and small rust spots have started 2 appear on the muffler. thats an easy fix though..i also live in WA, rain rain rain rain and more rain? kthxx.

 

ill look into that polish/wax stuff.

same here, my muffler is fine but the midpipe is getting patches. i just hope they dont get very severe...

The problem is that they advertise stainless steel but only the tip is stainless. Friend of mine drilled holes in stainless exhaust tips even though i told him that he was stupid, and after one winter they were covered in rust. Most of the exhaust parts sold today are probably just coated with a sealent or a cheap chrome substitute.
