NO. It's legal if it has a CARB sticker, so since you intake as one, you are fine.

If you take your front license plate off, you are just asking to be pull over.

 

if your in cali.... anything that doesnt have CARB sticker OR sticks outta place they most likely will mess with ya!

you realy need to find your local laws.... id asume a front liscence plate being removed will get you pulled over quick thier! and depending on the exaust if its to loud they will mess with ya....
im not sure how they do aftermarket exausts... i would advise going to a SMOG location when they arent busy and see if you can talk to them about modified vehicles.... they will probably help ya out the most!!!

 

Over here where I live (Watsonville, near the Bay area) smog places don't check the exhaust, they do check the intake though and any other engine mods. However, a cop will pull you over if your car is too loud. Also, if your car looks like rice, they definetly pull you over and try to find anything wrong to ticket you, it has happens a lot to my friend.

 

if a cop every pulls you over and tells you to pop your hood, tell them they need a search warrent, I know they dont have probable cause to search for an aftermarket intake.

 

nah, i say you are better off popin your hood and being nice with them... most of the time they would just give you a warning if you cooperate nicely with them, unless you get one that's a *****.

 

well in this case i would say it would be a good idea to deny search........

if youve already been pulled over.... hes gonna get you for something.........
if ya deny acess that leaves them less to ticket you for!

i mean thier are some cool cops BUT if they ask you to pop the hood...... thier not cool 99% of the time!
otherwise he woulda already let ya off with just a warning.

 

though im guilt free im generally afraid of cops, mostly afraid of their tasers. If he wants to search I'll let him search - if i deny him he'll likely try to pounce on me for something else. Thanks again for your replies. The front license plate thing has been bugging me for a while now - i count all the cars on the road without them and from school to home the average number is 15. I can't believe these cars arent getting ticketed... pisses me off.. i know once i remove one im gonna get pulled over...

id say most of ALL the police searches are from mostly scare tacktics.... ive had some cops try that crap before when i drove my old 66impala. cops kept saying i was a drug dealer TYPICAL STEREOTYPE of the nice impala i was driving.LMFAO
tho i didnt have anything so i was never scared!
if ya keep your car locked up and nothing visable thats illegal they have no right to search.... they need probable cause!
ive never exited my vehicle either. most i do is pull way off the road or slow down and pull into a nearby buisness or side street. but ya still gotta stop quick.LOL

curdious will get you along way if the cops been cussed out all day long BUT doesnt always.... cause some cops are just PIGS and very hatefull! so they want to write you a large ticket!!!

 

I also Live in CALIFORNIA and yeah you better have everything with a CARB # on it or you will get nailed. AEM, INJEN. K&N Intakes are all Legal here in Cali. That is the reason I bought a AEM intake for my Si. YES they will PASS SMOG if it's carb legal...But Ebay also sell those good brands but like they say "you get what you pay for"
