I've been looking more into the Flowmaster hushpowerII and it seems that there is a muffler and a resonator.... but they look similar.... anyone know the difference?

I'd like to see those questions answered. I can't find much info on resonators either. And that hushpower resonator is the only one I find on ebay.

Cheap glasspacks work fine as a temporary solution to dampening sound and reducing resonance. But like I said, it's temporary and it will burn out and sound bad again. While they are new though they sound great as a resonator but really anyone is better off paying $50 bucks or so on ebay for a Magnaflow resonator. The 4" round body mufflers that Magnaflow sells work great.

Steel wool burns which you wouldn't ussualy believe, but because it's so thin, it does. Anything with carbon in it will burn (the process is the reaction between carbon and oxygen), just at different temperatures.
WAAAAAAY off topic but that is the coolest thing. Tie some wire around a brillo pad thing thats stretched out a bit. Start the pad on fire and swing it around on the wire. Waaa laaa. A rediculous shower of awsome sparks known as fire wire.

If you buy the whole catback exhaust, they usually come with resonators.
