Cold Air Intake Question
#21
name brand intake is where it's at....all high name intake brands spend countless hr.s and money to make best flowing intake they can. Take the AEM v2...AEM engineered that intake to cram the most amount of air into a small place as possible...that’s why there is the canister on it. It creates a "tornado" effect that atomizes the fuel finer for a cleaner more efficient combustion. All good name intakes do the same just about. This crap about a pipe with a filter will not nearly perform as well as a name brand CIA or SRI...hands down dynos don't lie
I would love to test your theory any day... You sound like an AEM sales rep! I agree that the companies probably spend a decent amount of time and money on R&D, but the fact is, there is only so much gain from an N/A intake system anyway - is 4hp really worth $200+ dollars when K&N claim the same numbers with a drop-in filter by itself... I just know from experience - buying the expensive cold air intake systems and the K&N drop-ins, there really wasn't much difference in performance. In my truck, the EGT's were maybe 50 degrees lower, but in my cars the only difference was noise level...
