A custom setup will do ya fine. Just get a universal muffler, 2.25 piping from cat back and get a big *** resonator, it will sound good. My magnaflow sounded real good when I had my D series turbo engine, but with the GSR engine, its real ricey....Im goin to get a huge resonator welded in and it should be good again. Good luck!

custom FTW. I agree. I have my own custom 2.5 piping from cat back along with a big *** magnaflow resonator and a universal volt muffler and my ride sounds very nice and good gains and it'll cost you less then getting a brand exhaust and it will sound just as good or even better with the same performance for cheaper price. so CUSTOM FTW!!!!

I was also told it was pointless putting a cold air intake on the civic since the stock is decent enough.
BTW, CAI's are one of the better mods for your money on a civic. The stock air box is extremely restrictive, and the CAI (or Short Ram Intake) will give you a nice throaty sound when accelerating and is a GREAT mod. Combined with a cat-back or full exhaust, you'd be getting some nice power gains (15ish hp).

^^^^ intakes are a great way to make your car sound better without it being really loud and waking up the whole neighborhood. Plus, round here exhaust is kinda rice unless ur turboed or swapped, so intake is concealed, sounds good, and avoids people calling you rice.

Ahhh so I should go for a Short Ram! How will that hold up under heavy rain conditions? I mean really heavy rain since I live on a tropical island the typhoons, can be nasty. I wanted to get a short ram to begin with but my mechanic was telling me you dont need it with a stock 1.6L SOHC and the high temperature of air near the engine can reduce performance in some cases. Im more keen on getting some nice sound out of my car, call it "rice" if you will since I'm an expat living in the land of rice.

Oh one more note, what brand of short ram would you go for? I got a 95 4dr Civic.......

If the rain is an issue, definetly go with the short ram instead of the CAI. In many cases, the point of intake is higher with the short ram than with the stock intake (off the ground). Chances are, if you're not sucking water now, you should be fine. Temperature is a factor, but you'll still have an increase in performance and sound quality.

AEM is a great brand, but you can even get a cheapo off of ebay. After all it really is only a metal tube.

driving with a CAI really isnt that bad. Specially if you get an air bypass valve which comes with AEM CAI's anyway i think...

and as for brands, get an ebay intake (Like $30), then get a nice AEM dryflow filter or K&N filter. that'll do ya good.

cai really arent much of an issue. Ive driven through big thunderstorms with no issues at all. The only thing you have to worry about is watter that would completely submerge the filter. (driving through lots of standing water)
