It only takes a good slash of water to kill the motor. PREKGSR only went through a puddle and it locked up his motor

You would have to submerge the entire intake filter in order to hydrolock the engine. This is not going to happen just by driving in the rain. If that were the case, AEM wouldn't be in business. I talked to AEM a short while ago and according to them, the V2 produces the most gains out of all their intakes. I should be getting my replacement (first set was damaged in shipping) any day now.

If u get caught in the rain and the CAIsucks up some water it might cause the car to stall BUT i went trough roughly about 3-5 inches of water and my car is pretty low but the filter wasnt completley submerged so who ever said that clearly hasnt had any issues and good for them. hydrolock is very real and theres a very good chance of doing it if u have a CAI. take it from me , i just got my GSR hydrolocked and trust me its something u want to avoid at all costs so i would strongly suggest gettin an SRI , the difference in power between a SR and a CAI is about 1.5 to 3 hp so why take the HUGE risk of loosing ur engine. and it only takes a little water to hydrolock a motor once its gets sucked it the piston can compress it so it has to get out through somewhere , most of the times through the block and in the process breaking a rod or a few if its really bad

If u want something that will give you some really nice power gains look into password's jdm power chamber intake. price is a little cheaper than the v2 and it gives you roughly the same ammount of HP and its a short ram plus it looks really sexy , in fact thats the intake im going to be running once i finish my swap

Of course, how low your car is sprung makes a difference, as does how fast you are going when running over streams of water. A V2 is probably NOT the best intake to have if you live in an area that is commonly flooded. I live in San Diego and even when it rains hard, there are very few streams of water around, especially in the area I live. Also, my CX is lowered only 1.5 inches - not anywhere near as low as some Civics I've seen.

no one probably cares, but i called the number on www.aempower.com's website and you can find out what the v2 is like for you application. i asked him about mine and he said technically its not a short ram intake because its not in the engine bay but it doesnt go anywhere near as far out as the cold air intake does, and he said "the only way you're gonna hydrolock this is if your front end is up to your windshield in water"

i would rather get that jdm, but im gonna go with the aem v2.
