man i had a kid at work today tell me that his moms mini van will smoke my honda...i said bulllsh*t. after seein this is makes me wonder.

I have very little doubt that even a stock 3.0, 3.3 or most definitly the 3.8 caravan/voyager/TC will eat a stock civic alive (not the ones with K-series). So will the Honda Odyssey. If it's a Siena or a venture (or any one of the fords) you have a chance, but even than they have more power, are geared low in the first 3 gears and you will have a very hard time keeping up. The Mazda 5 on the other hand is slower than a fully loaded tractor trailer going uphill, so that will be easy.

The thread is one day old and I only got the engine two weeks ago. Be patient oh young jedi.

Sounds like a nice project! I learned to drive in one of those mini-vans. Of course, it was automatic. Never saw a 5speed yet.

No real update other than I changed a blown out headlight, wipers and air filter. Interestingly enough at 171K miles the filter looked original and there was a mouse nest in the intake complete with live mice. I wonder how much better it will perform now with a new filter and no clot in the intake.
