In the USA, the government runs the test and provides the mpg number the manufacturer must use. It'd be hard to sue a manufacturer-- unless, as was the case with some big truck diesels years ago, they were rigged to cheat on the government test.

Default silly

Yeah, I think it's silly. I remember when we bought my Civic, they SPECIFICALLY told me gas mileage would suck at first b/c it's a BRAND NEW car that was NEVER driven, and also to watch how I drove it, because that would affect it (and set the tone for mileage in the future) as well. She used to be an attorney, so I'd like to think she's smart... but sounds like she's just trying to get paid b/c she didn't read the fine print and is now ticked off.

For the price you pay for a hybrid you don't get that much better mileage IMO. Heck all the regular Hyundai's get 40+mpg. TDI VWs get 50+mpg.

......You know...one thing she should have did was....DO HER HOMEWORK before investing in something like a new car.

All she had to do was make Google her friend and search for reviews.

I can see how I could be pissed and if I were honda I would pay her off to keep her quiet. Thats also why I'm not sold on hybrids I can get 32 in my civic if I'm careful and still hava a lot more fun in it that an insight

What bothers me is that Honda is forced to put the mileage down based on what the government tells them. If this lady wins, every car company will have similar law suits because of the way the government makes them list the mileage.

Well technically she's right. BUT, at the same time - when you buy a car you KNOW that the mileage they give you at the dealer is the for the perfect storm of driving which means - perfect weather, no traffic, a full tank, and no cops. You always get optimum mileage on large highways where the terrain is smooth and you can do 85 - that is why cars have city and highway mileage -
