Actually in stock form the gt500 only runs mid-high 13's. The z06 can make high 12's but both can still be beat with a quick d series mostly due to the lack of weight. A stripped eg hatch would probably be close to 2,000 lbs.

i dont know who's driving this gt500 but they suck. stock track 350z are running mid 13's and they got 287hp. the monster gt500 with the 500hp will ezaly pull its self into the12's.

I am far from a stang fan, but there is a local that has a 88 LX 5.0 notch with a single T88 slamming mid 8's in the 1/4 and over 170mph traps. Now that is not a stock engine but the stang has 2 things a civic never will and that is massive amounts of torque(which in all reality is what matters) and rear wheel drive. For a bolt on 95 or later(untill 05) GT you can keep up with them with a mild turbo setup or a well tuned slightly built up all motor B series swapped civic. A bolt on H series swapped civic will be nose and nose with a 95-04 bolt on GT.

Actually the first series of test on the GT500's I seen had them running mid to low 12's with street tires and I think the fastest all stock C6 Z06 I have seen reports of is running high 10's with drag radials. This is a car that does 0 to 60mph in mid 3's and in 1 gear, they are trapping over 130mph stock. And to the first post a turbo on a Mustang will swallow and spit out a 80hp gain, try about triple that with a well designed turbo setup and good tune.

RE: What are really the chance of a Mod Civic beating a mod mustang?
I dont want to be misunderstood here. I know full well that v8 muscle is very capable of putting our 4 bangers to shame. The point Im trying to make is that just cause a mustang has a claimed 300bhp from the factory doesnt mean its fast. It weighs twice as much as a civic and is probably actually putting 230ish to the wheels, especially in auto form. The point Im trying to make to the original poster is that he can make his civic fast enough to beat the rich punk mustang drivers in his town with some smart cheap modifications. Im not about to start saying that civics are better or faster than v8 muscle but there is a lot of misinformation about how fast some of these v8 mustangs and such are from the factory. They rarely run the 1/4 mileas fast asthierclaimed to.
