Default royal purple bad for a civic??

hey whats up
im having a heated discussion with a friend. He has a b16 turbo i have a b18 gsr turbo both 99-00SI's. Well he is swearing up and down that royal purple or any full synthtec oils is extremly bad for the "v-tec". And will just mess everything thing up. Im been using mobil 1 full syn. and just changed to royal purple. Im saying nothing is wrong to use this oil and full syn is a good way to go. Any imput???

Tell him to provide proof, if he does, then we won't laugh at him.

Honda civic engines are just your run-of-the-mill fuel injected four cylinder with a great ignition system. Synthetics are fine for your motor. Some earlier discussions portray a synthetic switch as a death wish for your seals, but in the end, it makes no difference, it only depends on how much you want to spend. V-tak has nothing to do with it.

well the only prof he has is some "tuner" shop told him to stop running ful syn in his motor it will ruin the Vtec. And the shop is not worth anything anyways.
just doesnt make sense why they would say not to use r.p. or any full sny oils casue of vtec??? makes no sense

i call BS ive been rocken my 99ex with RP for about a year now, rocked my old 94ex Z6 with the same RP. no problem at all.

as long as you use the right weight oil it shouldnt be a issue at all... sythetic is almost always the better oil than conventional oil....

plus Vtec is just a solinoid that locks up using pressure. hell you could use water i bet on the vtec solinoid, as long as it has pressure.LOL
the oil is important on the crank/cam pistons...

now the turbo im not to sure about its oil needs.
