Is there an extra hose attached to your brake fluid reservoir? My Mustang GT has a hydraulic clutch and I can see a hose attached to the reservoir that leads to the slave cylinder.

I'm tempted to just run 87 octane if I get the Si. I've heard of people getting away with this on cars that called for 91+ octane like the Town Car. The Knock Sensors usually pull timing if it detects detonation.

well you can try it I know it may seem alot but its only around an extre 5 bucks for the premium. Which sure it adds up but its not asbad as a major repair I would rather have to dish out an extra 5 bucks a week then shell out several hundred becasue I was to cheap. The manufacture suggests those kind of things for a reason.

I would prolly say to stick with the manufacture suggestions i mean i have to run 91 and its not that big a deal. and about the clutch im preatty sure there are two reservoirs they have the same fluid in them. Timing belt. As for reliablity you CAN NOT beat a honda. Hope that helps a little that just my 2 cents

The si uses a higher compression to run the motor. Thats why it needs 91 octane or higher

The part about the timing blet is not totally correct, the ex would have a belt because it is a d series engine, but the K series that is in the SI has a timing chain.

Just for clarification, all these people seem to be saying you cannot use 87 on the si...well you can. All modern cars have knock sensors and you will NOT damage the car by running lower octane. you will however get worse gas mileage and power, and when it all comes down to it, the loss in mileage might be significant enough to lose money over just running 91.
