Default Question about spray paint ????

Hey everybody...I got a question for those with experience or done something like this. I got some fog lights for my Si. The plastic housing around the lense are silver and I would like to custom paint themto match my factory color. I got this paint that is a freaking close match but the paint isLacquer. What preparation would I need 2 do to paint over my plastic housing. I know I will have to sand it a little. But would I need a primer. I alsoknow I will need clear coat over it.
But will this paint work on plastic or No??? thanks everybody

My kit is very similar to this

You don't need primer, but it helps. You don't need clear coat but it protects the color and makes it shine better. Either way you go, sand it down with really fine sand paper and it will come out good, great if you use primer and clear. Post pictures when you get them finished and installed.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Thanks Bro...It seems you are always here 4 helping me out...lol. The paint I got it's 4rm Dodge (OEM paint) GTS Blue Pearl. It's really close I just painted a piece of metal and matched it next to the car. You Wont see the difference since it's all the way on the bottom part of the bumper. Thanks

On your bumper there's spots for the fogs right? Or do you have to cut out pieces to fit like mine?

Goodluck on that project should be fun, still haven't gotten mine on yet mostly due to the cold and girlfriend stuff :P Starting to warm up tho so I think the weekend after next I'm going to work on mine.

Mine have the spot on the bumper already. I heard you have to cut just a little piece off the bumper. But I don't think so. It's just the weather right now in Cali is all messed up right now..Windy with rain at the same time..

Related question: Mr Mobsta Man, how fine of a grit are you talking about for the sandpaper? 500? 1000?

you do have to cut out a hole on the bumper. I used a sharp blade its just plastic. If you have an OEM bumper, then there will be an outline of where you have to cut the hole.

best way to do it is to wet sand it, stick the sand paper in water then sand. primer with about 2 coats and clear coat up to 4 MAX i use about 2 works fine, the better you do the longer the paint will last
