Nike H3ad,
yes, they do, you have to pay extra. I've seen Maaco paint jobs that blow away other regular body shop's work. It depends on the painter. That's how they cut costs over normal body shops, all they do is $200 worth of work and materials and charge $400-500 for it.

^ They are basically a normal body shop, but their marketing technique is to offer the cheapest paint jobs around. Normal body shops can do a cheap job for you as well, but they don't want to do that because it hurts their credibility, just like it's tainted Maaco's reputation. I've seen very skilled painters working at maaco shops produce amazing jobs, just depends on the shop, considering they're a chain store.

dito... some painters know WTF they are doing and some just dont really care, plus im sure they dont just have one painter so even if they do good work there is always a chance youll get the **** poor lazy guy that paints your car.. its a risk! but most important thing with a paint job is the prep work and you can do that yourself! you can even tape the car all up mostly yourself, since most of the time they rush these jobs and dont tape up the window seals very good if any and just paint them which looks bad. and the worst prep work failure is they dont sand the car fully and the parts they dont sand can easily peel off and look like total crap!
