Default Looking for some input. Honda DX vs. EX

Hi,

So currently I drive a 95 civic ex stick shift. Car only has 100K miles and mechanically is in great shape. Only problem is that the rust is getting really bad and the color is the purple/gray mix and I think it looks gay. I'm thinkin about selling it and getting a 92-95 civic DX coupe that is black. I owned a 94 LX once and it had the 1.5 and man was that car slooowwww. I got this EX and the 1.6 vtech actually has quite a bit of kick to it! Now the thing is that you get better gas mileage from the 1.5, and also I heard from a friend that the DX coupe with it's 1.5 is faster than the EX coupe because it weight a lot less. Is this true?

Also, i'm open to any input on what I should do in general? Should I just keep my current car and fix the rust and paint it or should I just look for a cleaner one that is a better color?

I'll post pics of my ride tomorrow.

for one your friend is wrong. the ex is faster and also has all the electric options.
i say you can sell and get a real nice dx model and if you want more power look for ex head (d16z6), distributor, ecu. and put it on the 1.5 dx motor. you will have VTEC and will have more power than the ex you have.

^I don't know why you would want to get a DX... why sacrifice all those power options for only a little bit of weight savings that won't even be enough to notice a difference?

Sell the rusted EX, and upgrade to a 96-00 EX.
My opinion ^.^

Don't you sacrifice some gas mileage this way?

with the precious vtec added isnt power what you'd like? keep it man, i want what you got and currently my dx is in the restoration process slowly fixing it up "wanted the ex" but mine was a good deal for the dx. Just repaint the car if thats your only reason for hating it.

You don't really lose any gas mileage.

I'd keep the EX. it has shorter gears=better acceleration. More performance is never bad, n'est-ce pas?
