Lighter Socket no longer working?!
Hi guys/gals,
I bought a portable DVD player for my car, and after about a week or so the lighter socket has packed up. Neither my phone charger, DVD player charger or cigarette lighter work any more. Is the socket fused? If so, where is the fuse located? I've checked the fuse box but cannot see which one it may be as there are a few that arent labelled.
Any ideas?
cheers,
Chris W.

I've never removed the socket panel before, does it just pull out with a bit of encouragement? I just don't really wanna force it if I'm not supposed to. The radio is still fully functional.
I've been using it quite regularly recently to charge my portable DVD player, so maybe thats got something to do with it?

Everything electircal is fused.
Sounds like it may be dirty.
Do you have a 12V test light? If so, look back at the fuses and with the IGNITION ON!!! use the test light and at the back of each fuse it has a small amount of metal exposed, if both sides of the metal show power, the fuse is fine.
There are 2 fuse boxes, one under the hood and the other under the dash. I belive the lighter is under the dash though.

RE: Lighter Socket no longer working?!
Well I have just bought a multi-socket adapter for the cigarette lighter, so that I can charge my phone and watch DVDs at the same time or whatever. I'm also wanting to stick my Xbox in there at one point, which would require another lighter socket.
I didnt realise there are 2 fuse boxes! Where abouts is the dash one located?
cheers guys,
