Default Just tried Seafoam...

Well, I tried Seafoam for the 1st time on my 1999 LX with 171,000 miles. I was pretty worried because I've heard the stories about seafoam messing with high milage cars. Well I tried it last night (so the smoke wasn't as noticable), and I put 1/3 in the gas tank, and a little over 1/3 through the fuel pressure regulator. After it was almost done sucking up the seafoam through the hose, I stopped for a second to scratch myself (lol), and noticed it was throwing a CEL. I kept going, letting it suck up the rest. I waited 10 minutes and fired it up and got the cool smoke screen that filled the whole neighborhood with smoke.I drove it around for about 15 minutes, and the car was MUCH more responsive on the throttle, accelerates noticibly faster, and idles even better than it did before. Also, the CEL went away when I started the car which was a relief...so, it was a success and if you are worried about using seafoam on your high milage car, don't worry just let the car suck it up nice and slow, and you'll be good.

Is it normal for the exhaust to be a little more smokey than normal 3 days after doing seafoam? I think there is still a little smoke, hard to tell though since it's about freezing here and the hot exhaust steam is visible. I put in in the gas tank too, so I assume it's just burning the seafoam right?

Mine only smoked the night I did it and I floored it down the road 2 or 3 times, after that no more smoke.

its a fuel system/cylinder cleaner. it removes the carbon buildup in your motor.

Does somebody have a pic of which hose you let suck up the seafoam. I am wanting to do it on my civic but am a little nervous. And it is 1/3 in gas, 1/3 in oil, and 1/3 that gets sucked up by a house. By the way the motor in my car is a d15b2

While what's in the pic isn't the stock setup, all you really need to know is what the FPR looks like. That's the hose you'd feed the Seafoam into.
