Default Just got a 96 civic. need some information about it.

mom just gave me her 96 civic ex 4dr auto [:'(].

i was just wondering what the engine code of it was.

does it have vtec? if it does, what does it switchover.

looking for a lip kit. what should i go with. trying to keep it clean.

last night raced me friend with his IS250 from a dig.
kept up with him in first gear, then he pulled on me in 2nd and 3rd.
he has an intake and exhuast with 3 people in the car.

D16Y8:
1590 cubic cm
9.6:1 compression
127hp @ 6600rpm
107 ft/lbs torque @ 5500 rpm
vtec crossover: 4800rpm (listen closely... it's hard to hear on a SOHC)

as far as the lip kit goes, I personally like the Mugen style lips. Try http://www.hmotorsports.com/or http://www.streetstyler.com/... they both have really good prices, but streetstyler's shipping is awful from what I've heard.

Welcome to the forums, by the way.

Well, for harmsway, it was easy; I used a mix of http://www.superhonda.com/tech/honda_engine_codes.html(I've used this thing so many times since buying a honda!) and Wikipedia... D16Y8's are easy engines to get info on... yours was a little harder to find stuff on, but nevertheless, I still found it:

D14A4 (1.4i):
1396ccm
9.1:1 compression
90ps @ 6300 rpm (about 88.7 hp on the imperial system)
120N/m torque @ 4600 rpm (about 88.5 ft/lbs for those on the imperial system like myself)
sorry, no vtec as far as I know

that's gotta be one of the hardest engines to find info for I've ever seen.. it helped once Ifound the engine code (the D14A4)... I used a combo of http://www.hondarevolutions.com/html/resource.htm, http://www.jdmcivic.com 's forums, and wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D...281.4_Litre.29)

Anyway, hope this helps (and welcome to the forums)!
