Default honda civic type R vin problem

Hi,

just wondering if anybody could help!

I have a 2002 type R. It seems i have two different VIN numbers.

The one on the engine is what its registered with but the one on the window is what was used on the MOT certificate.

I cant see any sign of tampering and found this site www.bobmckay.co.uk/numbplates.html

I rang the DVLA but they say all vin numbers should be the same!

can anyone help?

thanks

Chris

bottom passenger corner of your car should have a tag with a vin number, that's the definite vin number

engine vin number?

I know my car has been vin etched, which means like 75% of the parts have the vin number on them, including the glass

so if you got a part repaired like the window, it could have been salvaged from a vin etched car

the other option, is that it's an engine swap, and may or may not be the proper engine for the car

Are you sure its a Type R? Are you talking about Integra? If its a Civic, does it have the SiR badge? Also, check the Engine type--should be a K20. You may have a chopped auto.
