Honda Civic 07 --> rpms at 100 km/h
Hi all,
I'm very happy tohave foundthis place.
I just bought a newCivic (LX 2007) and I'm wondering ifa differencein the rpms at 100 km/h between AT and MT is normal. I get 3000 rpms on mine (MT) at 110 Km/h. However, according to CanadianDriver.com,
"On the freeway in fifth gear, the engine turns over a modest 2,000 rpm at 100 km/h and 2,400 rpm at 120 km/h, keeping engine noise low and fuel economy high. "
Why such a difference? My mileage is okay (as advertised) i.e.I do not get more than 8l/100 Km in combined drive.

RE: Honda Civic 07 --> rpms at 100 km/h
Another Civic newbie here.
I am noticing similar results with my '04 LX. Mine revs at 3K RPM at 70 MPH (about 110 km/h) and I am getting 39 miles/gallon all-around (6l/100km). I was a bit taken aback at the seemingly high rev number as my previous car ('93 Subaru Legacy) revved at 2500 at 70 MPH. Engine noise is still pretty low and pickup is almost rocket-like so no complaints here.
"On the freeway in fifth gear, the engine turns over a modest 2,000 rpm at 100 km/h and 2,400 rpm at 120 km/h, keeping engine noise low and fuel economy high. "
That may be referring to the 5-speed automatic which largely corresponds to a 6-speed manual in terms of the gear ratio for the top drive.
