Finding out engine type
I have a 2000 ex coupe and I want to know what type of engine is in it. Like b18 or whatever. Anyways I know that it is an i4 cyl. w/ a vtec and sohc. Is there a specific spot on the engine to look. I looked all over the dang thing and couldn't find it.

RE: Finding out engine type
Should be a D16Y8. Its stamped into a flat part on the block to the left (when standing in front of the vehicle looking under the hood) of the header. You might have to clean it off a little to find it.

Thank you. It looks like the engine was cleaned with a brillo pad so it mighta rubbed off. Thanks for the help now I know where and what I am looking for jsut to confirm the d16y8

RE: Finding out engine type
I don't think it would have rubbed off because its carved out of the block. There's a flat part that sticks out of the block to the left of the header, and its got the engine code carved into it.

Your engine should look somewhat similar to this. The code should be where the red circle is:

D16Y8 is confirmed. Is this a crappy engine how does it rate with honda engines on a scale of 1-10?
