You're looking at a 7th gen though. They moved it back on the 06s:

is that the 06 interior there? Hmmm i prefer that over the 7th Gen, God Australia is proberly releasing the 7th gen as the 06 i will have to do more research

 

that interior is soooo nice. And I'm glad they moved the shifter back. Although, I didnt mind where it was on the 7th gens. But then again I didnt own one, only drove it around for one night (overnight test drive). I liked the fact that you didnt have to take your hand too far away from the steering wheel to shift, every millisecond counts

 

Hand away from the steering wheel? I can't drive with two hands on the wheel...My brain won't let it happen.....

The fasted stock civic must be the ek9 type r surely? 190bhp and little around 1000/1100 kg's to haul. Under 6 secs to sixty. And the shifter on the dash of the current civic is awesome. Great gearbox and in the perfect place. It looks a bit weird at first but its shift pattern is exactly the same as any other car.

 

the si's or type r will be the fastest probally newer will be faster with the newer stuff they came out with but the newer ones are all computer so they are hard to work on unless you have all the computers and hardware
