Yeah on a door you won't be able to roll the window down all the way. On the rear deck of a coupe or 4 door, speakers that are too deep might interfere with the rods that hold the trunk open. You can buy spacer rings that hold the speakers out away from the surface, so the back isn't so deep, but on the doors then you won't be able to put the factory grilles on.

This looks ugle, but has better states ( i think), but it could have a shorter life than kicker

Let me know which brand you decide to go with and how much you like them because I am in need of replacing the door speakers in my 1997 Civic EX Coupe. Oh yeah, and more importantly, let me know if they fit as well as allowing you to roll down your window!

I have Infinity Reference series 6.5" 2-way speakers in my doors. They sound great, and they have the adjustable angled tweeter so you can point the treble at your ears. They sound pretty darn good.
I had to cut out the plastic "baskets" behind the factory speakers so the magnets would fit, but my window still rolls down all the way. Also, I had to make new screw holes in the plastic for the new speakers because the factory screw holes did not line up.
Still, when it was all said and done, the factory grilles fit nicely right over the new speakers, and no problems rolling the windows down.

I am thinking about replacing my door and deck speakers with Alpine Type S speakers. I normally would use Infinity Kappas, but those magnets/magnet covers are usually some huge *****.
