d16y7 on a 97 ex?
I just got my 97 honda civic ex and i looked at the engine to see what type of engine it had. it said d16y7....i was wondering whether they made a couple of these with that engine or do all ex trims come with d16y8?

You should know that many times, the manufacturer plants will be under tremendous strain to put out a shipment of civics. If they run out of parts for a specific civic type, then they will use whatever parts they have in stock. This is not uncommon or bad. This is simply business. I was suprised to find a DX exhaust manifold on my EX. It was an original part, too. What is bad, is misrepresenting the product being sold. Sometimes people will not notice the difference. This could be the case if your car was not swapped.
It seems more likely that someone blew your y8 and swapped it for whatever they could find easiest and cheepest, which was a y7. Check your ECU as well, if it is the one (which someone else is going to have to tell you how to identify it). It may be different than spec as well. Another way to look is to see if your car has the one piece catylitic converter and exhust manifold. They were welded together for some idiotic reason. Good luck with that, and sorry about your disappointment.

This could be simpler then you all are talking about. ESCivic, if your car is canadian manufacture (like mine) then the Canadian EX has the same trim/options as the American DX. DX didn't get the Y8 .

ohhhh, ****, that's right. I forgot about that. I was just thinking that an entire engine is a heck of an omission for a factory to make. put up some pictures of the car...let's see the exterior and the engine!!!
