Default CTR head?

Hey everyone I am looking at going to pick up a GSR block along with a CTR head today I was wondering how do you denote that it really is a CTR head? Is something stampped on the block that will tell me thats what it really is? Thanks everyone

you won't know for sure without taking it apart. CTR, ITR, B16A heads all say "PR3" on the outside. Same casting, different insides.

Yeah I know how to tell the block, but okay I will look for Pr3 then, I figure I know how to do the swap part now I might as well get a motor to build as a winter project because well I have never rebuilt a motor before, so my grandpa told me he would coach me along with how to do it. But hey I know how to do most of the other stuff so I might as well learn how to rebuild the motor right? And whats better then picking up a GSR block with CTR head, and how would I tell if I take the valve cover off though?

I can't say what's better because I don't know what your goals are.

Take a look at this

http://technet.ff-squad.com/cr-calculator.htm

and this

if you are going to rebuild an engineanyway, just buy a bare head, CTR cams (if that's what you want), whatever valves you want, etc. etc.

Well I am leaning towards going the boosted route seeing how I already have a N/A motor. I am planning on tearing this motor all the way down and beef up the internals then getting a nice turbo kit for the car. But if I can get the head for a decent amount I will probably go ahead and get it then sell off the parts.

I know its going to take some money and work but I am looking for about 400hp roughly give or take some. I am sure I am going to be hitting the books since I dont know much about turbos

Well I am guessing a GSR block is the best place to start so I know where I can get one for a good price so I am going to pick that up
