can you run boost on standard ecu map

can i run boost on base map safely on my b16a2?? i have a vafc2 apexi system which i will have tuned on the rollers. but can i drive the car with the turbo kit on for a while safely or should i get a boost dependant regulator to be safe?. can anyone HELP!!

yes you can run boost i think up to 11psi without the cel coming on. you can only add so much fuel or subract so much before that will also trick the cel

thanks for the help. what is cel?? will the engine not be running lean and cause problems on basemap ie pinking etc?? there will be much more air but no more fuel! is that right?

I dont know if thats entirely safe. Basemaps are just that, the very base program necessary for the motor to run. Youd be safer running 11psi on a stock non modified ECU than a chipped one with a basemap on it. But, again im no expert. Personally, i would just wait till its tuned to get on it like that.

yea if your really worried, run low boost until you can take the steps for proper mapping. I agree with the other guys.
